Ishmael Miller is pushing for his debut against Nottingham Forest East Midlands rivals Leicester and two former England managers going head to head at the City Ground.
Miller made his first appearance for the Reds as a substitute in the Forest `s first victory of the season at Doncaster on Tuesday night. The striker has another run out 24 hours later in a behind closed doors friendly against Brighton.
The 1.2 million pounds signing from West Brom to the hope that he has done enough to break into the starting XI and McClaren could find himself the association partner newcomer Matt Derbyshire, which began in Keepmoat Stadium.

He will compete with young Jeffrey Schlupp, David Nugent, Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn for a place in the side.
Record signing Matt Mills may also return to the team after being named as a substitute for the midweek defeat to Bristol City. Midfielders Yuki Abe and Neil Danns are also options for the manager Eriksson.
Ahead of the game, Eriksson said: "Now it is important to raise the atmosphere and go to Nottingham and have a result because that is what we need is always difficult to leave and play in a local derby .. may be better off playing at home, and sometimes we do not have results at home.''
